Travel Characteristics: Reliability Cost Estimation Method

This selector includes both a radio button and a dropdown menu. The radio buttons select whether you will provide only fraction congested, only buffer time, or Both on the Travel page, under the Congestion tab. The dropdown selects what format you will enter for buffer time if you are going to enter it. (If you select Fraction Congested, the dropdown has no effect.)

  • Fraction Congested means that on the Travel page, under the Congestion tab, you only enter the fraction congested for modes where congestion is relevant.
  • Buffer Time means that on the Travel page, under Congestion tab, you may only enter the buffer time associated with each trip (in fractions of an hour). Choose this by clicking the radio button next to the Reliability Metric Preference dropdown. On the dropdown, choose the way that buffer time is entered.
  • Both means that on the Travel page, you enter both fraction congested and buffer time using the metric selected by the Reliability Metric Preference dropdown.
